I have a confession: I’ve been neglecting my work. I’m not talking about my day to day work responsibilities, I’ve actually been working very hard in that aspect. No, I’m talking about MY work. The work that lights me up, excites me, inspires me, and the work that I dream about. The creative work that I feel compelled to do.
What about you? Have you been avoiding your work too?
So many of us have become liars to ourselves. We tell ourselves we’re too busy, we don’t have enough time, others need us more. But the reality is–if you’re like me anyway–that creative work scares you and so it’s very often easier to avoid it than to face your fears. Except that it’s not. Perhaps Brené Brown said it best: “Unused creativity isn’t benign. It lives within us until it’s expressed, neglected to death, or suffocated by resentment and fear.”
It’s time to stop suffocating our creativity. There is work that only you can do, so join me on the podcast today to understand how to overcome fear and create meaning in the world in a way only you can. We are waiting for the gifts only you can bring us.
