It’s time again for another Pursue What Matters book review! This week I’m talking about the incredible book Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World. Written by Cal Newport, this book is about conquering the distractions around us and learning to work with focus and efficiency. It’s a must read for anyone looking to succeed in our busy world.
Cal Newport is a professor at Georgetown University, specializing in Computer Science and the study of the theory of distributed systems. He’s the writer of six books, and the Study Hacks Blog. Many of his books and studies are about the intersection of technology and culture.
Deep Work is a discussion of one of the most undervalued, and most quickly disappearing virtues in today’s business and work culture: the ability to focus without distraction on a cognitively demanding task. This skill is so valuable!
On today’s episode, we’ll take a deep look at what the concept of deep work looks like in your life, and how to develop this essential skill. I’ve been recommending this book to people for years because it’s helped me so much, I hope it’ll do the same for you!
