Behaviorism is a way of understanding humans through the concept of conditioning. Behaviorism focuses on how–through rewards and punishments–human behavior can be changed. We are all familiar with behaviorism in one way or another, whether it be your parents rewarding you with a cookie after eating your broccoli, or a teacher writing your name on the board for misbehaving in class.
Rewards and punishments have a powerful effect on behavior, whether we like it or not. In today’s podcast I’m asking the question “Could you be rewarding the wrong behavior?” It happens all the time at both work and school. This episode is all about hoping for one behavior while rewarding another. We’re talking process improvement and I’ve got some solutions to help you determine if you are indeed rewarding the wrong behavior. Who’s got time for that? Certainly not you!
