Crisis. It’s all around us. Whether it be COVID-19, a bad year for your business, or any number of personal struggles, there are plenty of crises to go around right now. Which brings up an interesting question: does crisis make a leader? Is a crisis the factory out of which great leaders are produced? My simple answer is no, leaders are not formed during crisis, but some of their best gifts come to bear during crisis. Whether you agree with me or not, we are all in a global crisis right now, which means there are opportunities to lead and if you’re going to lead, you might as well do the best you can. Today I’ll discuss what the greatest leaders do during crisis. There isn’t an exact formula for how to move forward in every circumstance, but great leaders have a pattern of characteristics that move them to action in the face of uncertainty.
