Book Review: The How of Happiness: A New Approach to Getting the Life You Want

Do you ever look at your life and think, “I should be happier than this.” Perhaps your life is peaceful and filled with meaning, but you still find yourself wanting more. Whether your desires have to do with having more money, a better job, more free time, or less worry, many of us struggle with this idea of looking to the proverbial other side for the greener grass. Billions of people have likely spent their lives chasing these things, but not found happiness in them, so what’s the big secret to finding happiness that we’re all missing out on?

Many people have tried to provide the solutions to this dilemma of happiness. Life coaches, spiritual gurus, and countless others have come with their philosophies. While these teachings are great, and many people have done good with their lives as a result of them, many of them are not based in solid research. As a scientist-practitioner, I’m passionate about providing insights and answers based off of proven research. That’s why today I’m reviewing Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky’s fantastic book: The How of Happiness: A New Approach to Getting the Life You Want. This book is a guide to identifying and targeting the behaviors that actually make a difference in happiness. Dr. Sonja gives in depth solutions and steps to being happier that are all backed up by cold hard facts. This book is a fantastic resource for anyone and everyone to find greater happiness in life.

I’ll share with you the research and the happiness activities so you can improve your life for the better. To help you, I’ve also created a free guide based off of The How of Happiness, that will give you simple and clear ideas to apply the teachings of this book.

Enjoy!
