Children are beginners in the true sense of the word. Each day brings something new and unfamiliar. Being a beginner helps kids learn quickly. Without preconceived notions, previous life experience, or strongly-held opinions to interfere with the learning process, children are incredible learning machines.

While you and I can’t turn back the clock and become kids again, there is another option. In a world where being an expert is highly-valued, we run the risk of losing the benefits of being a beginner. Today’s culture stresses knowing everything and rejects the notion of a learning curve. This mindset is dangerous and can rob you of the valuable experiences that come from being a beginner.

Beginners: The Joy and Transformative Power of Lifelong Learning is an engaging and thought-provoking book that discusses how you can take on the mindset of a beginner and reap the rewards of doing so. Join me as I discuss how to be a beginner, and why it can be so helpful for you.
